Your New Role AustralianSuper is looking for an experienced and talented lawyer to join its Corporate Legal team in the role of Senior Legal Counsel. Your focus will be on providing legal advice to all business units within the Fund and assisting with the identification and mitigation of risks. You will provide legal advice on disputes, litigation, regulatory notices and regulator enquiries. Other key duties include, but are not limited to: · Providing legal advice on regulatory focus areas and recent judicial decisions. · Managing and coordinating regulatory investigations and litigation. · Providing legal advice on insurance notifications, claims, coverage and policy wording. · Maintaining an understanding of key legislation and standards relevant to the Fund. · Assisting with the review and development of policies and procedures. · Researching legal questions including complex legal areas and matters and provide legal advice in an easily understood format. · Developing and providing training on legal issues to the Trustee’s staff as required. What You’ll Need · Minimum of 8 years’ post qualification experience (PQE). · Background in litigation and disputes, including responding to regulator notices and document discovery. · Experience in advising superannuation funds or other financial institutions. · Superior organisational skills and ability to prioritise and concurrently manage a range of matters. · Superior interpersonal skills. · Superior drafting, negotiating and written and verbal communication skills. · Ability to work co-operatively in a dynamic team.
