Job Description: We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Estimating Intern to join one of our host companies in Melbourne, VIC, for a 12-week unpaid internship. The internship will provide exposure to various estimating functions, including cost estimation, quantity takeoffs, and project planning while collaborating with experienced professionals. Responsibilities: Prepare detailed cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and purchase orders for housing projects ranging from $3M to $5M, ensuring accuracy and consistency using tools like AutoCAD and Bluebeam. Conduct preliminary estimates for multiple jobs daily, enhancing project planning and budget forecasts. Verify Extra to Schedule (ETS) and on-site ADHOC requests from site supervisors, presenting findings during weekly management meetings. Support live job planning and execute quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam Revu, ensuring alignment with project requirements. Track progress and construction schedules in Airtable, ensuring up-to-date timelines and rectifying discrepancies. Migrate and manage defect and warranty data into Airtable for enhanced project monitoring. Coordinate procurement efforts, including background checks on trades and suppliers, and follow up on inquiries to meet project timelines. Conduct site visits to observe construction work, gaining practical insights into execution and project management. Draft and submit local council permit applications, ensuring compliance with regulations for construction projects. Contribute to process documentation for improved knowledge transfer and streamlined workflows for future interns and staff. Qualifications: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with AutoCAD and Bluebeam preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant field of study (e.g., Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related areas).
