Description School Readiness Funding Teaching and Learning Mentor Reference number: 10525 Closing date: 11:00pm, 23 February 2025 Exciting new role based at Moonee Valley City Council’s longest running Early Years Service, Hopetoun Early Learning Centre Implement best practice kindergarten programs through coteaching and reflective planning VIT registration required and salary based on teaching experience Temporary full time until December 2026 Work across kindergarten terms and enjoy kindergarten holidays while receiving full time salary (please refer to Victorian school holidays for schedule) The Opportunity Hopetoun Early Learning Centre is excited to introduce the role of School Readiness Funding Teaching and Learning Mentor. Located at Hopetoun Early Learning Centre in Flemington, this role works alongside internal and external teams to provide support services that enhance the learning and development outcomes, health, wellbeing and ongoing development of children and their families within the Hopetoun community. Working alongside the service educational leader and pedagogy team, this role will lead the educational framework for all kindergarten programs and will remain outside of ratio. As well as providing ongoing mentorship, the Teaching and Learning mentor will coteach two days per week alongside current Early Childhood Teachers and Educators to provide real time opportunities for guidance and support, as well as reflective team planning and analysis. Responsibilities Provide coaching and mentoring to a diverse team of early childhood professionals at Hopetoun Early Years Centre, supporting both experienced staff and newly graduated educators to enhance their practice, build confidence, and foster a collaborative learning environment Ensure current, contemporary practice throughout all Kindergarten programs To demonstrate expertise and practical application of trauma-informed practices within a kindergarten setting, ensuring a sensitive, supportive, and responsive approach to the diverse needs of children who have experienced trauma Implement best practice kindergarten programs through coteaching and reflective planning Lead and guide programs, educators and volunteers at Hopetoun Early Years Centre Co-develop, deliver and maintain high quality inclusive play-based emergent programs, reflecting the philosophy, policies and procedures of Moonee Valley Early Years Services Team Teaching: Provide coaching, mentoring and support to kindergarten staff across Hopetoun Early Years Service Provide in-classroom coaching, peer learning sessions, and the utilisation of tools and resources to assess and enhance learning environments This includes ECERS-E & SSTEW to evaluate and improve learning spaces, as well as adopting a trauma-informed practice approach with guidance from the Alannah and Madeline Foundations Trauma Informed Practice Guide for Early Childhood Professionals. Key selection criteria Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood), Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), or other relevant approved ACECQA qualification A current Victorian Institute of Teachers registration (VIT) with Exemplary status (highly desirable) Ability to develop relationships and partnerships with early year educators and teachers to promote shared learning and collaboration and experience working with children and families in diverse communities. Ability to effectively manage individual and groups of staff to improve performance and guide practice Experience in leading, coaching and mentoring early childhood staff. Experience as an educational leader is desirable Sound knowledge and practical application of trauma-informed practices, with a deep understanding of the impact trauma can have on young children’s development and behaviour How to Apply Click ‘Apply Now’ and submit your application.
