About the Opportunity Reporting to the Data and Analytics Manager, the SQL/Cloud Database Administrator leverages modern technology and collaborates with key stakeholders across the business. This role is crucial in delivering leading data and analytics outcomes, driving long-term sustainable change and improvement in Australia’s sovereign submarine capability. Additionally, the role provides guidance and counsel to developers on creating optimized design patterns in the integration space. The team reports to the Head of Digital Business & Chief Data Officer and is part of a broader Transformation team, which is undertaking the largest modernisation of ASC's digital layer in its 35-year history. This role is a Full time, Permanent position based from Osborne, SA. Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances, including failover clustering and Always On Availability Manage database performance through tuning, indexing, and optimising queries Plan and conduct regular database backup and recovery operations Monitor and troubleshoot SQL Server issues to ensure high availability and minimal downtime and provide resolutions Collaborate with development teams to support application development and deployment Implement and enforce security best practices, including user roles, permissions across all environments (DEV,UAT,PROD) Perform capacity planning and forecasting for storage and performance needs In-depth knowledge of SQL Server administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance About you Tertiary level qualifications in Data & Analytics, Database Administration or relevant equivalent Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS, GIT/GIT bash Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines for database deployments. Demonstrate the ability to be highly autonomous and self-motivated, displaying sound judgment, initiative, discipline, and an ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency Ability to work, communicate, and resolve conflict effectively in a diverse/multi-disciplined project-oriented team environment as well as with stakeholders and the wider business Eligibility This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
