Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD. It includes the delivery of four new underground stations, two new above-ground stations, accessibility rebuilds for six stations, the construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast, and the introduction of a new world-class 'ETCS' signalling system. About the Role As a Senior Legal Counsel at Cross River Rail Delivery Authority, you will provide expert legal advice to protect the interests of the State and the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, Corporate and as part of a high performing in-house legal team, you'll lead on property law pertaining to the Cross River Rail Project and support the corporate team on regulatory and compliance matters. You will collaborate with internal teams and external agencies, shaping solutions for one of Australia's largest infrastructure projects. Working from our modern corporate office in the heart of Brisbane's CBD with flexible work options, this opportunity is offered as a contract until December 2027 with possible extension. Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality, solutions-focused legal advice on legislative, property, and contractual matters. Partner with CRRDA's Land Team to establish appropriate tenure arrangements to support project delivery, and land acquisition and handback processes. Proactively identify and mitigate property-related legal risks. Prepare and provide legal input into briefing papers and other communications up to executive management and board level. Prepare, review and revise contracts, leases and other legal documents. Provide training on legal issues and manage corporate legal knowledge for the Delivery Authority. Supervise external legal counsel to ensure cost-effective outcomes. About You: Experience with property law and legislative/policy considerations relating to major commercial, transport or infrastructure projects, including compulsory acquisition and securing tenure. Advanced legal writing skills including drafting of commercial contracts, executive briefings and legal correspondence. Exceptional verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills with ability to clearly brief and influence leaders on complex legal issues and engage in effective dispute resolutions. Confidence in managing complex legal issues with a solutions-focused approach. Highly organised and autonomous worker who can adapt to sudden changes in expectations or priorities. Admission or current eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of Queensland is essential. Why work with CRRDA?
