About the role As the Vocational Program Designer, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Corporate Affairs Group. You will lead the modernisation and training material updates by designing and developing high-quality training, and assessment materials for V/Line’s rail operational and front-line staff. You will play a key role in ensuring that all training materials comply with legislative requirements. Key Accountabilities include: Collaborate with Experts: Work closely with subject matter experts to create training materials tailored to their needs. Develop Training Materials: Design and develop new training and assessment materials and manuals for both accredited and non-accredited training, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Identify Training Needs: Assess training needs for V/Line and develop appropriate Training and Assessment Strategies for the relevant cohort. Digitise Content: Convert content into relevant learning and assessment systems. Continuous Improvement: Regularly update course content based on feedback to ensure it remains current and effective. Quality Assurance: Conduct pre- and post-validation reviews of training materials to ensure quality, compliance, and relevance. Collaborate on RPL Kits: Work with Trainers, Assessors, and subject matter experts to design Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) kits as needed. Review and Improve Courseware: Evaluate current courseware materials, identify gaps, and assist in addressing them. Site visits & the requirement to travel This role requires travel to sites throughout regional Victoria. It’s a great way to get out to the regions and see our beautiful State The role is primarily based at our Flinders Street office, however will be required to travel regionally approximately once a fortnight, to engage with relevant stakeholders. About you You are a problem-solver who enjoys diversity in your workday. You enjoy developing relationships with stakeholders to effectively be able to gather information from subject matter experts. Your rail (or similar industry background) gives you insight into the complexities of growing and maintaining individual’s competencies in a high-risk environment. Our ideal candidate will possess the following: Cert IV Training & Assessing (essential) Demonstrable experience developing training packages & training materials Rail or high-risk industry background (highly desirable) Previous experience modernising and digitising training (desirable) Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
