$91,702 - $104,753 up to 15.4% Superannuation Amberley - QLD, Brisbane CBD - QLD The Role Defence Social Workers deliver a broad range of support services and programs to Defence members and families, and a range of critical assessments to assist Commanders in making decisions that impact Defence families and Defence capability. Defence Social Workers: Provide social work services in a generalist practice framework, including comprehensive assessments, bereavement support, brief intervention and referrals to enhance the social functioning of Australian Defence Force personnel and their families; Provide support to Defence families to manage the military lifestyle and assist families to engage with their communities and local services; Provide training, psychosocial programs and detailed presentations to Command, Defence members and to Defence families; Deliver the suite of national programs in relation to partner employment, education and critical incidents to Defence families; and Develop strong community links between the wider Australian community, Defence families, and the Defence organisation. Be available to travel as required. About our Team Defence Member and Family Support (DMFS), Directorate of Regional Engagement offers a broad range of programs and services to help Commanders, Australian Defence Force members and their families manage the military way of life. DMFS supports Defence families’ self-reliance and increases the capacity of the wider community to understand and support the needs of Defence families. The Defence Social Worker Brisbane and Amberley positions will form part of the South Queensland team that consists of Family Liaison Officers, Military Support Officers, an Educational Liaison Officer and Business Support Officer. DMFS South Queensland covers Amberley, Brisbane, Canungra and the Darling Downs. We work collaboratively to provide crisis support, advice to Commanders, information regarding DMFS programs and services, referrals to external agencies, information on local services, education advice and general information on Defence matters. Our Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to build and sustain positive relationships with team members and stakeholders. Critical thinking skills is a must. Detailed reports are required that will utilise well-developed human service skills to objectively assess individual circumstances. Information for reports is collated through individual interviews, specialist reports and observations. The ideal candidate will also: Work with clients from diverse backgrounds being respectful of cultural beliefs and practices; Apply professional expertise in social work including case management, individual assessments and crisis intervention; Operate within the boundaries of organisational processes and policies to provide brief interventions, psychosocial assessments and social work reports, and critical incident management support; Utilise professional judgement in support of individuals needs and work from a customer centered framework; Possess strong stakeholder engagement, group work and presentation skills; and Possess an ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
