Join us as we contribute to this significant transition in the energy sector. About the role We currently have a role for an experienced Engineer to join the Congestion and Grid Modelling team. This role will see you provide detailed engineering, analytical, programming support to solve challenging technical problems, participating and contributing to projects that improve the operation of the power system in AEMO’s Operations Division. This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney (CBD or Norwest) or Brisbane. What you will be doing Development, formulation, testing and implementation of electricity constraint equations to model the network congestion in AEMO’s market systems. Assess planned network outages in the medium term (MT) timeframe (1-13 months) for multiple regions to identify and determine any corrective action required for identified system security and reliability issues. Due diligence of Transmission Network Service Provider (TNSP) and AEMO limit equations using PSSE and PSCAD Production of limit equations for the Victorian region. Support and development of the on-line stability monitoring tools. Maintenance of dynamic generator models in AEMO’s power system snapshot storage system (AMP) and updating the Python code that supports the system. Development and updates to AEMO’s network model used in the energy management system for network changes and commissioning of new generating plant. What you will bring to the role Relevant tertiary qualifications (preferably in Electrical Engineering with a power system focus) or equivalent relevant discipline. Proficient use of programming languages (such as Python, SQL, other), analytical software packages and Microsoft Office product suite. Understanding of the power system with the ability to apply this knowledge to solve technical problems. Competency in the use of network analysis tools. Ability to communicate both verbally and written and prepare technical reports.
