This position provides support to the Manager Statewide Maintenance for operational supervision of maintenance functions for the statewide Prison Service. Working Environment Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart, Burnie and Launceston. This position is based at Risdon Vale in the Maintenance Unit, located in the Ron Barwick Men’s Minimum Security Prison. This position will be required to travel intrastate to undertake maintenance at other facilities. Our workforce also includes corrections, allied health, case management, administration and management staff. The Rison Vale site offers a diverse work environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre traffic, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym for a small weekly fee (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time) . We are a short drive to local shops and services, however there is no need to worry about parking when you return as there is plenty (and did we mention it’s free). Period of Appointment Permanent full time Duties Assist in project tasks relating to major and minor works projects and associated reporting. Assist in the oversight of maintenance contracts, and liaise with contractors as required. Assist in establishing and maintaining a comprehensive asset register and assist in the maintenance and updating of the Prison Service’s building and engineering services drawings, to reflect the current campus arrangement. Assist in the development of specifications, scope and cost estimates for capital works projects and maintenance programs. Undertake investigation and provide reports for energy and cost saving initiatives.
