Seeking a qualified Mining Engineer specialising in Drill & Blast operations to join our team at Meandu on a 9-day fortnight roster. Meandu Mine BUMA Australia provides a total mine service to Stanwell Corporation’s Meandu Mine to deliver coal to the adjacent Tarong power station. Services provided include mine planning, drilling, overburden removal, coal mining, coal processing, rehabilitation and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant. Meandu Mine currently has five working pits using a combination of dragline and truck-and shovel operations to produce over 6 million tonnes of coal per year. About the Role: We are seeking a qualified Mining Engineer specialising in Drill & Blast operations to join our team at Meandu on a 9-day fortnight roster. Key Responsibilities: Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will be responsible for short-to-mid-term mine planning, scheduling and optimisation along with the following: Develop and implement daily and weekly mine plans and schedules Develop and implement operational mine designs, with a focus on drill & blast operations Collaborate and communicate with Production to ensure mine plans are realistic, achievable and accurate Foster productive relationships both internally and with the Client, actively demonstrating behaviours including honest and open communication, teamwork, trust, processes and systems and embracing a “best for project” philosophy Work with the client to improve and optimise planning and scheduling outcomes Ensure mine plans and schedules are compliant with the site Safety Health Management System Prepare weekly and end of month reports Assist in developing and teaching graduate and student engineers Support risk management processes and participate in investigations of hazards and incidents About You: Tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering 3 years’ experience in the mining industry (Coal preferred) Demonstrated knowledge of sound mine design Knowledge of pre-strip blasting techniques Ability to work closely with production and maintenance operational teams High standard of written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills Advanced level of computer literacy and the ability to analyse and parse data Experience with common mining software packages Working at BUMA: BUMA Australia is a people focused business, with a strong emphasis on safety, training, development and continuous improvement.
