About the role As V/Line’s Cyber Security Engineer, you will support the Enterprise Cyber Security team with continuing to enhance the organisations cyber security maturity. You will be responsible for aiding in ensuring cyber security is embedded in new projects and capabilities, uplifting day-to-day activities, and ongoing system maintenance. It is a critical role in delivering a range of strategic initiatives to support business and mission functions by implementing, maintaining, and managing security controls and infrastructure. With your growing expertise in security technologies and processes, you will handle security technology, technical issues, and incidents. The successful candidate will use their knowledge of automation, cloud technologies, OT/OCS systems, and attack techniques to optimise V/Line’s cyber security infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical role where you will work collaboratively with technical and business teams to align cyber security practices with regulatory requirements, streamline processes through automation, and continuously improve the organisation’s security capabilities. Additionally, this role will support risk management, policy review, incident response training, as well as helping other teams improve security outcomes. About you With an eagerness to learn and a can-do attitude, you’ll utilise your high-level communication skills, including a level of written communication and reporting skills necessary to describe complex issues and actions clearly and concisely. Successful candidate will also possess: 2 years’ experience successfully working in hands-on, security operations positions. Established experience managing and triaging endpoint protection technologies such as next gen av (NGAV) and endpoint detection and response (EDR). Demonstrated experience in data security controls and techniques such as data loss prevention, identity access management, threat intelligence and log management. Tertiary qualifications in computer science, cyber security, computer/electronic engineering, or related field. Hold Cyber Security certification (CEH or SECURITY preferred). Demonstrated experience with Security Automation and Orchestration (SOAR) and event management or correlation tools (SIEM). Remuneration for this position will be commensurate to the successful candidate’s aligned experience and skillset to this position.
