Act as the Sole Legal Counsel for a globally-listed FMCG business that operates in the Food & Beverage space. In this role, you will be the local representative or the group legal framework and be across all topics from commercial contract negotiations and regulations through to employment and beyond to strategy and acquisitions. This role is more high touch and with the view to support growth across the ANZ regions. Client Details My client is a globally-listed FMCG business that operates in the Food & Beverage space. Following recent changes and restructures in the Australia and New Zealand regions, the focus is now on growth as they look to expand their footprint and product offering across Australia, New Zealand and APAC. With a sophisticated global structure, the Australia site reports through to Asia which in turn reports through to London, although the group boasts offerings across most major geographies. In this way, the products and decentralised and vary depending on region. Description Lead Legal, Compliance, and Company Secretarial functions for the ANZ region, including serving as Company Secretary for regional entities. Provide strategic legal advice on intellectual property and privacy matters for APAC business units, working closely with a global legal functions and frameworks. Draft, review, and negotiate diverse contracts under time constraints, including: Supply agreements, MSAs, IT and licensing agreements. R&D agreements, sustainability program agreements, and banking/finance contracts. Real estate, warehousing, and environmental/health/safety documents. Provide clear guidance to business and operations teams on the implications of legal documents. Manage legal matters across corporate law, ESG, litigation, and data privacy. Develop and promote compliance policies, practices, and priorities with internal stakeholders and global/regional leadership. Conduct legal research and analysis to support compliance with regulations, offering risk-aligned advice. Develop policies and practices tailored to regional and global legal frameworks. Profile Qualified Lawyer with current, unrestricted practising certificate for Australia and over 12 years experience either from Law Firms (with notable in-house secondments) or with extensive and diverse In-House Legal career. Strong knowledge of Intellectual Property (IP) with diverse commercial contracts experience. Broad generalist knowledge is also highly attractive. Experience in FMCG environments, particularly Food & Beverage (F&B) is highly advantageous but not required. Employment law is not a key part of the role but those with that experience will be considered highly. Excellent communication skills are required - able to interact competently with international leadership and C-Suite stakeholders, whilst also acting as a key member of local leadership team. Decisive in decision-making and able to cut through noise to support strategic initiatives.
