Earn while you learn This entry level traineeship opportunity will see you gain the technical and design skills that are in high demand in the Civil Engineering industry A traineeship combines full-time employment with paid training and on the job experience. As the Design Drafting Trainee, you’ll gain competencies in organising and communicating information, interacting with computing technology and CAD software, and participating in environmentally sustainable work practices. What we will offer you Traineeship for three (3) years with potential for ongoing employment Obtain a nationally accredited Certificate IV in Engineering - Drafting Above award rates Commencing salary of $1,667.66 gross per fortnight plus superannuation (at 18 years of age or older), varying rates subject to age and experience as per Award provisions Access to Council’s Flexible Working Arrangements Further opportunities to grow your skill set through additional courses, training and support Types of tasks / activities completed in the role Assist to investigate, design and draft plans and technical drawings for local government works (roads, roundabouts, drainage, sewer, etc). Assist to produce concept plans for commercial developments, sporting complexes etc. for internal and external government and private organisations. Learn to produce high quality plans for urban and rural areas using AutoCAD software. Assist to manage and maintain Council’s wide format printer/scanner. Supply details of Council’s infrastructure assets to internal and external customers. Issue quotes to external customers and maintain records for invoicing. Attributes we are looking for in our applicants Keenness and enthusiasm Great communicator with a positive and friendly attitude Attention to detail Computer skills Sound mathematical and technical skills Traineeship information This traineeship will provide you with the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in both design drafting and local government operations whilst being supported to learn and grow in a friendly and flexible working environment. Across 24 months you will work fulltime (38-hour week) alongside experienced supervisors and colleagues, gaining hands-on industry experience and receiving 3 hours paid study time per week towards achieving a nationally recognised Certificate IV qualification.
