The Program This program is a partnership program between the Waalitj Foundation and Shell’s QGC Business and the Indigenous Scholarships Program exists to increase the number of First Nations Australians with tertiary and trade qualifications thus enhancing employment outcomes for First Nations Australians, specifically in the resources sector. Description The Opportunity We are looking for a passionate self-motivated full time fixed term Indigenous Scholarships Mentor reporting to the Program Manager. The position is responsible for: Working individually with Scholarship Recipients either in person or externally to support retention in their nominated courses (in both vocational and tertiary fields). Liaise with Recipients, families, TO Groups and Educational Institutions to promote attainment of qualifications and to support graduating recipients into sustainable employment. The successful candidate will provide intensive individual mentoring to participants and have the opportunity to build upon partnerships within the community and engage in programs, workshops and meetings as required. This position is full time and you will work remotely from your own home office. Preferred location will be from either Toowoomba, Western Downs, South Burnet and surrounding regions, travel to these areas will be required. About you To be suitable for this role you will need to demonstrate the following work-related experience and attributes: Demonstrated experience in the provision of mentoring support and assistance to job seekers with complex needs. High level communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work collaboratively with C ommunity O rganisations and support services. Ability to engage, network and maintain relationships. Have knowledge of barriers to employment. Have knowledge of G overnment and other bodies that provide services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, such as employment services and community organisations. Ability to work independently within a small team. Pro-active, self-starter. Desirable Requirements, but not essential Vocational/trade qualifications. Report writing skills. Experience working with a CRM. Essential Requirements: Police clearance (or ability to obtain). Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
