As the Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the technical design, analysis, and integration of renewable energy assets into transmission networks. Your expertise will guide the development and execution of projects that enhance the reliability and efficiency of the grid, ensuring the seamless connection of renewable assets. Key Responsibilities Lead the technical design and analysis for connecting renewable energy assets, such as wind, solar, and battery storage, to transmission networks. Oversee the development of detailed engineering plans, specifications, and standards for transmission network projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, asset developers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure successful project delivery. Provide expert guidance on transmission network design, grid stability, and system performance to internal teams and external stakeholders. Evaluate and mitigate technical risks associated with the integration of renewable energy assets into the grid. Conduct system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and stability analyses, to optimise the integration of renewable assets. Drive continuous improvement initiatives by incorporating the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes into project strategies. Act as a technical leader, fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and innovation within the team, while actively mentoring and empowering junior engineers to excel in their roles. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, including grid operators, utilities, and regulatory authorities. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices in all engineering activities. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is highly desirable. 8-10 years of experience in transmission network design, grid integration, or renewable energy projects. Proven expertise in the technical aspects of connecting renewable assets to transmission networks. Strong knowledge of power systems engineering, grid codes, and regulatory requirements in Australia. Proficiency in power system analysis software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, or DIgSILENT. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on innovative and practical solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Current Australian working rights are essential; sponsorship is not being offered.
