3 positions available each with different skill levels required. The project will be focused on leading the development and manufacture of explosive ordnance. This research includes the processing, development and testing of new propellant and explosive materials for Defence applications. The 3 roles are as follows: Senior Materials Chemist / Chemical Engineer - Energetic Materials will be required to work under the general guidance of DST Group staff to undertake the following activities: •under direction, manufacture of propellant and explosive formulations; •laboratory testing on a range of formulations to characterise chemical and mechanical properties; •test data analysis; •upkeep of manufacture and test facilities; •liaise with workshop staff as required to prepare hardware and materials for manufacture/testing; •provision of assistance in development of test methodologies; •provision of additional technical support as required by Task Leader or Group Leader; and •prepare risk assessments and standard operating procedures for facilities and processes Materials Chemist / Chemical Engineer - Energetic Materials will be required to work under the general guidance of DST Group staff to undertake the following activities: •assist in the manufacture of propellant and explosive formulations; •analytical/laboratory testing on formulations to characterise chemical, sensitiveness and mechanical properties; •upkeep of manufacture and test facilities; •liaise with workshop staff as required to prepare hardware and materials for manufacture/testing; and •provision of additional technical support as required by Task Leader or Group Leader; Materials Chemist / Chemical Engineer -Trials Management will be required to work under the general guidance of DST Group staff to undertake the following activities: •testing on a range of propellants and explosive ordnance to characterise performance, safety and effects; •provide trials instrumentation and data acquisition support •upkeep of test facilities; •liaise with workshop staff as required to prepare instrumentation, hardware and materials for testing; •provision of assistance in development of test methodologies; •provision of additional technical support as required by Task Leader or Group Leader; •prepare risk assessments and standard operating procedures for facilities and processes; and •assist with experimental design and instrumentation.
