Position Summary The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex and secure computer networks to ensure optimal operation. This role encompasses strategic planning to enhance network functionality, improve security measures, and maintain alignment with the organization's strategic goals. Additionally, it involves overseeing the complete lifecycle management of network software and hardware, including the timely refresh and upgrade of systems in line with budget constraints. You will lead a team of network engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement, while ensuring that hardware and software management plans are proactive, strategic, and financially sound. Key Accountabilities Design, implement and management of all network and security infrastructure to maximise network uptime and ensure the high availability to minimize impacts on the business. Design, implement, manage and improve processes that maintain network and security infrastructure by undertaking proactive monitoring, regular patching and upgrades, optimising network infrastructure, measuring capacity and performance, performing backups and undertaking preventative maintenance to ensure continuous service to the business Lead troubleshooting of issues through the provision of 2nd level or 3rd level support to assist in recovery from network failures in a timely manner with an approach that minimises impact on business operations. Develop and mentor team members, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development to ensure high competency levels within the team. Document networks, security models, operational procedures and update the Knowledge Base library to ensure that knowledge is shared and retained. Design and implement network and security solutions to meet project or security requirements in a timely manner. Strategically manage vendor relationships to maximize service quality and cost-effectiveness. Make strategic decisions on network design and improvements, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Allocate resources and tasks effectively within the team to meet project deadlines and performance targets. Lead BAU incidents, troubleshooting and technical workarounds. Qualifications, Skills and Experience Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology Cisco CCNP, CCSP or CCDP certification & ITIL Foundation Strong Cisco hardware experience. Experience supporting (Level 3) Citrix Netscalers, F5 Load Balancers, Fortigates. Extensive experience in designing, implementing and managing Network and Security infrastructure. Experience designing and maintaining complex networks and experience with networking protocols, services and standards, such as TCP/UDP, IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, QoS, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, VPN, SIP, TLS/SSL, DNS, DHCP. Experience working within a corporate environment with a large user base. Proven leadership experience in a network engineering environment, including team management, mentoring, and strategic project management.
