The Role: Senior Traffic Engineer We are looking for an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Engineering Services team This is a great opportunity to provide traffic engineering advice, including assessment and design to facilitate a safe and efficient traffic environment for our growing community. This role will also support some of Council’s largest development projects where you will get the opportunity to utilise your professional expertise to guide traffic and transport engineering solutions. What you’ll be doing Developing local area traffic management plans and projects to implements Council’s Transport Strategy Negotiating outcomes and developing/implementing solutions to complex traffic issues including safety, traffic movement and community concerns. Providing expert advice to Council’s Transport Planner and other relevant staff relating to traffic and transport trends and requirements which may influence Council’s Transport Strategies. Coordination with Government departments and agencies regarding proactive plans and projects. For key accountabilities please see the position description attached by clicking apply now. What you’ll bring to our team You will hold tertiary qualifications in Traffic or Civil Engineering together with at least 5 years’ experience working as a professional traffic engineer. In addition you will have: Extensive experience in forward strategic network management planning to detailed design such as future traffic network planning, assessing various development applications, conducting low to high impact traffic studies at state or local government level; Proven capability in investigation, analysis, planning and implementation to monitoring of traffic management plans; Ability to provide integrated transport planning with land use; and Experience in updating local government ’Road Hierarchy Principle Document’ and developing ‘Traffic Impact Assessment Guidelines’ pertaining to roads and traffic management matters. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and highly developed written communication skills suitable for preparing Council reports and project documentation.
