You'll be involved in the Design and manufacture of Special Vehicles (FCV, Ambulance, Urban Fire, Country Fire, Management Trucks, Emergency Vehicles, etc.) Equally invested across all processes, including; Tendering / Design / Manufacturing / Commissioning. On-going production support and quality checks of in-house fabrication across multiple projects. Prepare General Assessments (GA’s) and Bills of Manufacture (BOM’s), manufacturing drawings for procurement and fabrications teams. Provide high value in the Prototyping phase / Jig making / Streamlining Processes. involved in constant R&D throughout the design process. Liaising with all levels of stakeholders internally and externally, Participating in weekly internal meetings / client meetings. Frequently interacting with other engineering disciplines and mentors You could be combining a “one off” prototype from the customer specification with new technologies, ideas and materials, mixed with standard design and generating new combinations to add to the new product range portfolio for future Defence tenders involved in preparing tenders for different types of vehicles, assisting with technical responses, General Assembly and detail drawings, weight calculations, drive line and pump performances calculations. providing production support, testing, operation and service manuals for projects, co-operation with the Quality department and other Engineering teams to define the new Design Engineering BOS process, including CAD design. The projects worked on will include a large amount of sheet metal fabrication, mechanical and electrical fit outs and using machined items and profile plates. Once the projects are transitioned out of the design and prototyping phase, there's lots of opportunities for you to be involved in production support, estimating, qualification and verification testing to make sure the product performs the way it's supposed to.
