The Lead Data Engineer is a leader in data design, analysis, and development, providing insights and identifying opportunities for improvement. Business and systems analysis, development, and testing, combined with business risk assessments and data quality monitoring are also components of the role. You’ll be responsible for the full life cycle of business information delivery and support. As a Lead Data Engineer, you will design and maintain data analytic road maps and data structures that support business and technology objectives. Also managing the public cloud environment to ensure it is successfully running. It also is responsible for contributing to the development of best practices for this cloud environment. This provides the organisation with a best practice analytical platform to make effective, fact-based decisions. You’re expected to participate in any urgent BAU issues on adhoc-basis. What you’ll do … Lead other data engineers so that they develop the skills necessary to understand and exploit business intelligence capabilities. Develop the skills necessary to understand and exploit business intelligence capabilities. Manage public cloud environment, including administration and support. Collaborate with the Business to fully understand business requirements. Design and develop data solutions to deliver services to satisfy internal customer needs. Review and recommend development techniques, strategies and vendor products, and make recommendations on the acquisition of advanced technology. What we’re looking for… Big Data experience as engineer or admin in a modern bid data stack (KAFKA, Apache Beam/Flink/Spark, Hadoop 3.0, etc). Experience with open source and applications orientated languages within a data focused environment – with preference to Python, Java, Scala, R and Spark. Experience with delivering end to end data integration solutions in a cloud environment with preference to Azure. Advanced knowledge of a modern data application. What’s in it for you?
