About the Role The Designer will play a vital role in supporting Driza-Bone’s design, product development and production team. This role requires experience in designing high-quality, weather-proof or sportswear apparel, ideally within a legacy brand context. The candidate will assist with current collections and collaborate on expanding Driza-Bone’s range into outdoor, sports, and leisure wear while maintaining the brand's heritage and expanding its appeal internationally. Key Responsibilities: Design Development: Assist in the creation and development of outerwear collections for various seasons, including jackets, coats, parkas, and other outerwear garments and fabric accessories. Contribute to the design process by researching trends, fabrics, and materials for outerwear. Create and refine design sketches and technical drawings using design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CAD). Fabric and Material Selection: Work with product developer to identify appropriate textiles for products, considering factors such as durability, waterproofing, insulation, and style. Technical Design Support: Prepare sketch and technical drawings for tech packs with detailed specifications, trims, and finishes. Create and manage the Range Plan/Line Sheet with garment sketches Collaborate with Product Developer and ensure designs are translated accurately into prototypes. Trend Research & Inspiration: Conduct market research as instructed by designer and product developer trend analysis to ensure designs are on-trend and aligned with customer preferences. Maintain a knowledge of industry standards, competitor products, and emerging trends in outerwear design. Sample Review & Fitting: Assist in the review of prototypes and samples, to ensure the design brief has been met. Participate in fittings, and support adjustments or alterations based on feedback from design leads or production teams. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field. 2-3 years of experience in outerwear or apparel design (internships or entry-level experience is also considered). Strong knowledge of garment construction and technical design, particularly in outerwear. Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD (additional experience with 3D design tools a plus). Understanding of fabric types, trims, and finishes used in outerwear. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. A passion for fashion, with a keen eye for detail and quality. Desired Skills: Knowledge of outerwear-specific technical features (e.g., waterproofing, insulation, breath-ability). Experience with product development and garment fitting processes. Ability to multitask and manage multiple design projects simultaneously. Strong visual and artistic skills, with an understanding of current fashion trends.
