The Data Branch partners directly with stakeholders to solve critical challenges, enhance service delivery and empower ONI and our NIC partners to achieve more through applying innovative data and cloud technologies. Together, we create impactful, scalable solutions that address national security challenges through collaborative innovation. We are seeking to fill multiple senior roles within the Data Branch, working under the leadership of the Chief Data Officer including Cloud Engineers, Data Engineers, Software Developers and Data Scientists. Senior technologists in the Data Branch work with a high level of autonomy, with decision-making highly dependent on their own judgement and experimentation, to drive the adoption of novel technological solutions empowering ONI's business. You will have the opportunity to solve complex problems, utilise state of the art technology, including building and deploying Cloud, Software and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications, and contribute to strategy and decision making that has a real impact on the future operations of ONI. The key duties of the position include We have several senior technologist roles we are looking at filling which support the end-to-end operation of our data environment. Cloud Engineers: maintain and monitor cloud infrastructure for high availability, reliability, and performance proactively resolve issues, perform maintenance, and ensure security compliance implement access controls, encryption, backups, and disaster recovery plans respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and document resolutions design scalable and secure cloud solutions based on business needs collaborate on cloud architecture and strategy plan and execute cloud migration strategies Data Engineers: develop data models, manage and optimise the flow of data within the platform design, build, and maintain the infrastructure and architecture necessary for collecting, storing, and analysing data ensure that data is discoverable, accessible, reliable, and actionable through the provision of expert knowledge, insights, quality outputs and education/demonstrations Software Developers: collaborate with the stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives and provide innovative solutions to meet their needs participate in the full software development lifecycle, including planning, coding, testing, and deployment troubleshoot and resolve issues related to various technologies and software integrations be aware of industry trends and advancements to contribute fresh ideas and enhance the team's capabilities Data Scientists: collaborate with the stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives and provide innovative solutions to meet their needs demonstrate knowledge of current Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning methodologies and practices in developing and monitoring explore data assets and maximise value from data collections undertake advanced analytics development or deploy Statistical Methods and Machine Learning be aware of industry trends and research to contribute fresh ideas and enhance the team's capabilities A successful applicant will have: expertise in current tools, methods and technologies used within their domain of expertise while also having the ability to adapt to new technology and ensure they impart this knowledge to others capacity to think strategically, develop plans and take initiative to resolve issues to enhance the achievement of business level outcomes excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills high-level organisational skills, be self-driven and possess initiative, with the ability to influence and shape behaviours to achieve tasks and business objectives demonstrated ability to adapt to shifting priorities and compressed timelines ability to translate technical concepts to stakeholders and collaborating across teams and external partners capacity to align technical strategies with business goals and troubleshoot complex technical challenges ability to lead, mentor, and develop a technical team, ensuring efficient operations and capability growth demonstrated ability at creating technical documentation for technical maintenance and training purposes
