About the role Our major Government client is seeking a Senior AWS Engineer for a 6 month engagement with potential extensions. Based in Burnley, 3 days on site You will assist with thought leadership to modernise the cloud practice with software development methodologies to re-organize the cloud platform as a set of self-service reusable products driven by business value. Responsibilities: Take the endorsed architecture patterns and be responsible for design, build and implementation of Cloud Platforms solutions with technical leadership in design, coding, and configuration. Drive the discussion, take the leadership and provide guidance to enable this client to lead the industry in AWS Platform Engineering best practice and support business outcomes. Take the lead to remediate vulnerabilities and security issues within AWS Platform and support other teams Influence AWS product roadmaps and contribute to GCP and Azure roadmaps. Define and publish cloud services to improve delivery speed across workloads. Guide strategic investments across all cloud platforms. Shape cloud platform engineering practices and methodologies. Drive adoption of cloud-native solutions and establish automation standards for industry-leading developer experiences. Develop and execute strategic technology lifecycle plans, optimizing costs and timelines. Manage cloud resources to achieve financial targets. Provide thought leadership in automation, cloud best practices, and DevOps engineering to design secure and impactful solutions. Champion innovative software engineering practices and guide teams through development journeys. Participate in a 24/7 support roster. Key Requirements: AWS Cloud Certifications (highly desirable). 5–7 years of experience engineering AWS Cloud Platform solutions, including seamless project vending and landing zones. Proven ability to build and support secure code pipelines (CI/CD) using GitLab. Proficiency in 2–3 programming languages (Golang, Python preferred). Expertise with YAML, JSON, Terraform, CloudFormation, and Open Policy Agent. Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (VPCs, networks, security, identity). DevOps practitioner with experience in self-service provisioning automation and CI/CD pipelines.
