The Role As a Senior Associate within the Construction & Major Projects team, you will work alongside globally renowned Partners and senior lawyers, advising on some of the most significant and sophisticated construction and infrastructure projects. This role is focused on delivering front-end, non-contentious legal support, advising clients across all stages of project development and implementation, including drafting, negotiating, and structuring major contracts, joint ventures, and project agreements. You will engage directly with clients, stakeholders, and senior executives, providing strategic advice and risk mitigation strategies for major projects across sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and resources. Key Responsibilities Lead Major Projects and Construction Contracts Provide high-level legal advice on complex, high-value construction projects, including major infrastructure, energy, and resources developments. Advise on the drafting, negotiation, and structuring of complex construction contracts, joint ventures, and procurement arrangements. Client-Focused Strategy and Advisory Deliver commercially focused, tailored legal solutions that address client objectives and project risks. Work directly with clients, understanding their strategic goals and offering insightful, practical advice on legal, financial, and operational matters. Collaborate with Senior Stakeholders Engage with key stakeholders including developers, investors, contractors, and government bodies to deliver strategic legal guidance throughout the project lifecycle. Lead discussions on risk management, contract terms, and compliance to ensure successful project delivery. Drive Business Development and Growth Actively contribute to the expansion of the practice by identifying new business opportunities, fostering client relationships, and participating in thought leadership activities. Assist in the development of the firm’s strategic direction within the construction and infrastructure sectors. Mentor and Lead Junior Lawyers Provide mentorship and leadership to junior associates and support staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous professional development. Lead by example, sharing knowledge and best practices within the team. Skills and Experience PQE : 5 years post-qualification experience in construction and major projects law, ideally gained within a highly regarded law firm or in-house legal team. Expertise in Construction Contracts : Proven experience advising on complex construction, infrastructure, and major project contracts, including procurement, joint ventures, and commercial arrangements. Strategic and Commercial Acumen : Strong ability to offer commercially focused, practical legal advice in the context of major projects, with an understanding of the broader business and strategic objectives. Client Relationship Management : Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with high-profile clients and key stakeholders, with a focus on delivering value and outcomes. Exceptional Communication Skills : Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior executives and clients. Team Leadership : Demonstrated experience in mentoring and guiding junior lawyers, with a commitment to fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
