Whilst undertaking a nationally recognised qualification in this area of work, the successful applicant will be trained and involved in all aspects of fabrication including the assembly of metal fabricated products such as structures, frames, plate and sheet assemblies. This is a full time, four year apprenticeship, and will commence in January 2025. Essential Skills: A genuine interest in the trade, an understanding of the industry and a hands-on approach. Good fitness and general health – a medical assessment is included in the final stage of the recruitment process. Demonstrated initiative and maturity. Great communication skills and the ability to work as part of a strong team. Solid work ethic and knowledge of safe working practices. Willingness to learn, take instruction and the desire to complete a four year apprenticeship. Drivers Licence. Desirable Skills: Certificate II in Engineering or partial completion. An Engineering (Fabrication Trade) apprentice would be expected to learn and be involved in the following tasks: Using a range of welding techniques; Using hand tools and hand held power tools; Using workshop equipment such as: Drills Grinders Plate folding & rolling equipment CNC Plasma cutting equipment Lifting equipment. The details: Work & Training would employ you for the duration of the four-year apprenticeship. Full time hours – Monday to Friday. Full entitlements including four weeks of holidays for the year. Theory training conducted by TasTAFE in one-week blocks. Mentoring and support provided throughout the traineeship. Your workplace supervisors would provide daily coaching and opportunity for growth.
