Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital The Maintenance Engineer ensures that the site’s (Midland hospital) assets are maintained to ensure their availability, reliability, meet operational requirements and SJGHC’s obligations with respect to licensing and regulatory bodies in a best practice and cost-effective manner. The Position Responsible for ensuring availability and reliability of central energy plant and all hospital services (HVAC, water quality, medical gases, medical air, steam quality, medical suction) by following a risk based preventive maintenance program focused on reliability centered maintenance. Develop maintenance plans, schedules and implement best practice workflow systems and processes that ensure the site(s) and assets are maintained to meet operational requirements and meet obligations in relation to Australian Standards, manufacturers’ recommendations, private hospital licensing and all relevant regulatory and legislative requirements. Asset management, job planning and coordination for all preventive maintenance, project and shutdown jobs including: Job planning and preparation for central energy plant related jobs. Attending job planning meetings and liaise with various stake holders (other departments/trades/contractors), and related communication. Scoping all PM tasks and setting up PM tasks in MEX against group or divisional tasks. Ensures assets are linked to PM tasks. Ensures technical completion of job in CMMS. Organises material for the job in hand (from stock or external suppliers). Liaise with Admin officer for raising purchase orders. Plans availability of resources. Ensure contractor induction and site registration of contractors. Manages contractor safety, contractor safety audits review JSAs and issue work permits for jobs. You will have an engineering qualification preferably with HVAC or mechanical background or a trade qualification, with proven experience within a similar role will also be considered. You will have general knowledge of all trades e.g. mechanical, plumbing, steam, air conditioning and refrigeration, carpentry, electrical and electronic controls related to hospital equipment and facilities with extensive knowledge of building codes and Australian Standards. Job supervision and coordination skills and experience with the ability to support after hours and respond to call outs is essential. To succeed you will have sound knowledge of hospital engineering and/or building services including air conditioning, chillers, hot water and steam boilers, steam system and familiarity with sterilising principles and methods of sterilising. You will have highly developed communication skills, including the ability to develop stakeholder partnerships and to establish and maintain reliable networks, the ability to record information and prepare quality written reports such as maintenance programs and highly developed skill in analysing and resolving complex problems and issues. Proven ability and extensive experience utilising CMMS is vital. Above all, people/patient care will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.
