About the Opportunity Tactix-Sener is seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join our Mechanical and Electrical team. In this critical role, you will lead the electrical design for up to three underground railway stations, mentor junior engineers, and deliver comprehensive designs for station systems, including LV distribution, lighting, and control systems. With a strong technical background and experience managing complex infrastructure projects, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and drive innovation. We are open to candidates based in, Sydney, East Coast and Melbourne. As a Principal Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for: Lead a team of electrical engineers for delivery of detailed design. Mentor more junior electrical engineers to support their learning and growth. Interpret and understand the Project Scope and Technical Requirements related to Electrical Systems. Delivery of detailed electrical design, calculations, reports and specifications for station electrical systems including: Low Voltage Distribution, UPS and critical power distribution, Lighting (including emergency and exit), General Power, Cable containment, Earthing and Bonding, Metering, Major component procurement specifications, Installation specifications and Control System Interface Information. Liaise with other discipline leads to communicate requirements and develop fully coordinated design outcomes. Liaise with architects, structural and civil disciplines to communicate requirements and develop fully coordinated design outcomes. Work with other Senior Electrical Engineers to develop standard for electrical engineering design. This will ensure that commonality is achieved. Review and take responsibility for design work conducted by electrical engineers. Participate and contribute to peer review and multi-disciplinary review sessions for design assurance purposes. Participate in safety in design workshops and actively implement outcomes. Act as technical authority for detailed discussions with client and relevant project stakeholders. Understand the design delivery program and manage competing priorities to ensure design packages are delivered on time and to the appropriate standard. Report progress and constraints to the Station M&E Design Manager at regular intervals. Manage design hours for electrical engineering team and communicate shortages to Station M&E Design Manager. Manage compliance with Project Scope and Technical Requirements and maintain relevant requirements. Develop procurement specifications and scopes of work to facilitate procurement of equipment. Conduct detailed technical reviews of supplier offers and assist with bid evaluation. Engage with selected suppliers to incorporate product specific details into detailed design submissions. Consider constructability in all design outcomes and consult with relevant team members to ensure that design outcomes are constructible. Actively promote digital engineering principles and follow project workflows/procedures for: front end design, detailing and submission Required Experience: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent) Minimum 10 - 15 years' experience working on design of electrical systems for major infrastructure projects Detailed technical understanding of electrical engineering principals, specifically: HV distribution, LV network configuration, LV distribution, LV protection and discrimination, Maximum Demand, Fault Loop, Voltage Drop, Cable Sizing, Motors and drives, Light and Power, Emergency and Exit Lighting, redundancy and reliability Proven ability in managing a team of electrical engineers in design delivery.
