This city shaping project, which will be delivered under a Public Private Partnership, will provide a major economic stimulus for Western Sydney. WeBuild as a D&C Contractor member, will be responsible for the successful delivery of the design and construction elements of the project, and we are currently looking to appoint Senior Mechanical Engineer - Commissioning and Completions . Position Overview: The Senior Commissioning Engineer - Mechanical Systems will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning of all mechanical systems on the SSTOM project. This role involves ensuring that all mechanical installations, including HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing systems, meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, extensive knowledge of railway systems and building services, and experience in managing commissioning processes from planning to execution. Key Responsibilities: Commissioning Planning and Coordination: Develop and execute commissioning plans, schedules, and test procedures for all mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other railway-specific mechanical installations. Coordinate with design, construction, and project management teams to ensure commissioning activities align with the overall project timeline and goals. System Testing and Verification: Conduct and document tests on mechanical systems to verify functionality, performance, and compliance with design specifications. Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshoot issues during system testing, collaborating with engineering teams to implement solutions. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed commissioning records, reports, and punch lists to track progress and identify any outstanding issues. Review and approve commissioning test results, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all documentation for handover to operations. Health, Safety, and Compliance: Ensure commissioning activities comply with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures, including adherence to railway safety protocols, to minimize risk during testing and commissioning. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to coordinate mechanical system commissioning and resolve any technical challenges. Provide regular updates to project management and other key stakeholders, addressing any issues that may impact the commissioning schedule. Qualifications and Experience: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in mechanical system commissioning, with at least 3 years in large-scale buildings, infrastructure, or railway projects. Demonstrated experience in the commissioning of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection in buildings, infrastructure, or transport settings. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical systems relevant to railway infrastructure. Proficiency in using commissioning and project management software. Knowledge of railway safety standards and relevant regulatory requirements. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with project stakeholders. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Additional Requirements: Certifications: Relevant certifications in commissioning, project management, or railway safety are advantageous. Licenses: Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is preferred. Work Conditions: Ability to work in an active construction environment, including shifts, weekend work, and travel as needed.
