Job Description Senior Engineering Specialist Fed Gov - aviation sector / 24-month contract Melbourne Airport WFH - free onsite parking Australian Citizens eligible for or holding an NV1 clearance The Aerodrome Technology group in CTEO is responsible for the ongoing management, maintenance and sustainment of Technology systems that form part of the National Airways System (NAS). The ATM Technology Replacement Program aims to replace existing Air Traffic Management System with a new System, that will process and display real time Air Traffic information to Air Traffic Controllers at Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Cairns, Rockhampton and Broome towers. The Senior Engineering Specialist is a key role within the Project. The role will provide technical leadership and system engineering oversight to ensure the technical capability meets the required standard of a tower service. As a Senior Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for the technical readiness of the new Air Traffic Management system. This includes: Act as the Point of Contact (POC) for technical matters regarding the Program’s engineering and technical matters; Provide technical leadership and guidance into engineering review gates as required; Provide technical leadership and guidance in the Program related design, development, test, installation and verification activities; Provide technical leadership and guidance during Program related testing and Acceptance of test outcomes; Provide technical leadership and guidance into the Program’s site installation, set-to-work, test and verification activities; Manage the technology change process, ensuring effective configuration management and change control is put in place; Identify and communicate risks associated with the program of work; Create, update, review and approve (if delegated) engineering-related artifices for the program; Act as a trusted System Technical Advisor. Provide technical leadership and guidance as required, including safety and security guidance; Perform systems engineering and project tasks throughout acquisition and implementation phases in accordance with safety and system management policies, frameworks, guidelines and procedures To be successful in this position, it is expected that you will have the following: A degree in Engineering or Information Technology from an Australian tertiary institution or certified equivalent qualification (for overseas qualifications) Be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in relevant area of engineering in accordance with relevant legislation e.g. Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) A sound understanding of and demonstrated experience applying Systems Engineering practices throughout the SDLC and system management processes. Extensive experience in the design, development, testing and implementation of robust and reliable software systems. This includes the over-arching aspects of quality assurance and configuration management. Demonstrated experience in stakeholder and vendor management Desirable Experience in designing, maintaining and supporting technology systems, in particular: N-tier architectures and distributed systems; Real-time systems; Message handling; and Internet technologies.
