If you enjoy working outdoors, want to learn practical skills, and have a passion for construction, this opportunity is for you About Us Bellingen Shire is a picturesque and diverse area located on the Mid North Coast of NSW halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and just south of Coffs Harbour. It has a total area of 1,605 square kilometres with a coastline of approximately 10km. We are a progressive local government authority employing approximately 170 dedicated employees. What’s in it for you? A three-year paid apprenticeship combining work and study. Full support to complete a Certificate III in Civil Construction (Bridge Construction and Maintenance) through a Registered Training Organisation (TAFE Ballina). Valuable on-the-job experience in building, maintaining and repairing bridges. Training to operate equipment safely, including power tools and light machinery Work on projects that directly contribute to your community. Build a foundation for a successful career in civil construction or engineering. What will you do? Assist with the construction, repair and maintenance of timber and concrete bridges. Learn to perform tasks like concreting, welding, and structural assembly. Gain hands-on experience with formwork installation, site preparation, and operating tools and equipment. Participate in off-site training and complete all qualification requirements. Follow workplace health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment. What do you need? Completion of Year 10 (minimum), with good numeracy and literacy skills. A strong interest in construction, civil works or related fields. Physical fitness and a willingness to work outdoors and perform manual tasks. A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and commitment to safety. Bonus points if you have (or are willing to get): Construction Induction (White) Card NSW Driver Licence (or are working towards one). Important Information A Group Assessment Centre will be held at Council’s Depot at 14 Alex Pike Drive, Raleigh, on Tuesday, 21 January 2025 from 8:30am to approx. 1:30pm and all shortlisted applicants must attend.
