As they continue to grow, they are seeking a skilled Power Systems Engineer to support the grid connection of their renewable energy projects. In this role, you will play a critical part in delivering power system solutions, from feasibility studies to grid compliance. You will work closely with project teams, grid operators, and stakeholders to ensure the successful integration of solar, wind, and BESS projects into the national electricity grid. Key Responsibilities : Deliver grid connection studies and analysis for solar, wind, and BESS projects. Prepare and submit grid connection applications to relevant authorities and grid operators. Conduct detailed power system modelling and simulations using industry-standard software (e.g., PSS®E, PSCAD). Ensure compliance with technical requirements such as NER s5.2 and s5.3 for generator performance standards. Apply AEMO’s Power Systems Modelling guidelines in developing models and analysing system performance. Develop and review technical specifications and performance standards for grid-connected renewable energy projects. Provide technical support during the design, implementation, and commissioning phases of renewable energy projects. Collaborate with project development teams to optimise grid connection strategies. Stay updated with evolving grid connection standards, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies. Liaise with grid operators, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements. Apply electrical engineering principles related to transmission, distribution, generation, and control systems. Qualifications and Experience : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a focus on grid connection projects. Strong experience in renewable energy projects, specifically solar, wind, and BESS. Proficiency in power system modelling and analysis tools such as PSS®E, PSCAD, or similar. Demonstrated experience in grid connection processes and liaising with transmission and distribution network operators. Thorough knowledge of Australian grid codes and regulatory frameworks , including NER s5.2, s5.3, and AEMO guidelines. Excellent understanding of electrical engineering principles related to transmission, distribution, generation, and control systems. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
