12 12 12 month contract $140 - $165 per hour (inc-Super) - market estimate / negotiable Canberra or Sydney Address - 2-3 days onsite Obtain your Baseline Security Clearance Our client, a large Federal Government Department, who enhance agriculture industries, forestry, trade and biosecurity are seeking the experience of an Azure Platform Lead Engineer for a 12 12 12 month contract based in Canberra or Sydney. Duties of the Azure Platform Lead Engineer Design and implement Azure-based data platforms using Azure services and tools (Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL, Azure Cognitive Services, and Azure AI). Use infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform to automate the provisioning and configuration of the data platforms. Write and maintain high-quality code in PowerShell and Azure Functions to automate, orchestrate, and integrate the data platforms with other Azure services and external systems. Apply DevOps practices such as continuous integration, continuous delivery, testing, monitoring, and logging to ensure the quality and reliability of the data platforms using Azure DevOps. Optimize the performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency of the data platforms using Azure-native features and techniques such as Azure Monitor, Azure Advisor, Azure Cost Management, etc. Ensure the security and compliance of the data platforms using encryption, authentication, authorisation, and auditing mechanisms such as Azure Key Vault, Entra Directory, Azure Policy, etc. Ongoing administration of the cloud analytics platform, maintaining availability and troubleshooting operational issues encountered by data engineers, scientists or other users of the platform. Skills and Experience Required The ability to seek creative solutions to meet business needs and apply them to the duties specified above. The ability to deliver platform engineering services to meet the organisational objectives for data analytics, under the IT security guardrails of the organisation. Competence with relevant technologies - such as Azure cloud, SQL databases, Power BI and Databricks. The ability to create high business value, robust and efficient SQL pipelines to curate data from complex and high-volume sources.
