Your Opportunity Due to an internal promotion, we have a rare opportunity for a Principal Engineer Process to join our Infrastructure Planning & Delivery Group. This role sits in our multidisciplinary Engineering and Professional Services (EPS) who provide engineering services that contributes to integrated planning and delivery of a capital portfolio in excess of $1.8 billion over five years. EPS maximises value for the community and environment, by bringing passion, curiosity and broad perspectives with a focus on safety, asset integrity and sustainability. As the Principal Engineer Process, you will be responsible for providing Process Engineering leadership and expertise to teams within Integrated Solutions and wider parts of the business. You will use your experience to deliver innovative, sustainable and efficient engineering solutions by understanding Urban Utilities values, strategic outcomes and objectives, such as improved liveability, and interpreting them through a technical lens. The role will also be required to understand existing and upcoming challenges to the business e.g. climate change, the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, emerging technologies, the changing requirements of our customers, affordability, rapid population growth, regulatory change and uncertainty, as well as the legislative environment—and the impact these factors will have on current and future assets. Some of your accountabilities will include: Mentoring and coaching the broader Process Engineering workforce within Urban Utilities, to prioritise safety and excellence within the Process Engineering practice. This includes Safety in Design and affiliated risk management. Technical Assurance Services: Lead key Process Engineering assurance activities and collaborate with Planning and Delivery Mangers, to support accurate scoping of work, which is then delivered by expert integrated partners (Consultants). A key component involves technical assurance of the final deliverables, including the process engineering methodologies, assumptions, and calculations employed. Technical Standards Services: Spearhead standardisation efforts within the Process Engineering area of practice, so that process engineering activities are more repeatable, accurate, and productive. Technical Advisory Services: Provide authoritative specialist guidance to senior managers across Urban Utilities to support problem identification & resolution for Urban Utilities process/treatment infrastructure, in a changing environment. Monitor the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies in the field of Process Engineering which are relevant to the water industry. Evaluate and recommend innovative solutions to improve treatment plant capabilities and address industry challenges. Actively engage in problem-solving initiatives to address operational challenges within treatment facilities, identifying opportunities for process optimisation and intensification to improve overall performance and resource efficiency. About You We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experiences: Chemical/Process engineering degree, and RPEQ accredited. Prior process engineering experience in a brownfield and operational environment in a related industrial sector which could include utilities, petrochemical, energy, mining, or others. You enjoy connecting with others, and you seek to create and grow meaningful interpersonal relationships as you appreciate how this drives collaborations and alignment on key objectives.
