Today, as the primary provider of tactile literacy for people who are blind or have low vision, the organisation works tirelessly towards it’s mission: “To empower people of all ages who are blind or have low vision through alternative formats.” “For every 100 books a sighted child has access to, a blind child only has access to 5.” International Library Association Braille books, tactual maps, calendars and a number of support services help those who are blind or have low vision, and also extend to the broader population to raise awareness and to foster inclusion in education environments. This is a busy and exciting period for this good team of caring people who are passionate about their cause. You'll be answering phones, scheduling meetings and dealing in the nicest possible way with people who come into the centre as well as handling the routine administration that a busy service provider produces. To star in this exciting role, you will need to bring at least a year of experience in a comparable position – that is as a receptionist with additional general admin duties. A warm manner, lovely clear speaking voice, empathy with a customer's needs and the ability to complete a transaction smoothly and effectively from start to finish are all capabilities that we're looking for. Attention to detail, the ability to pick up work quickly, a bubbly personality, great team spirit and an enthusiastic approach to giving a great day's work, every day are all attributes that will help your application.
