There’s never been a more exciting time to join one of the fastest-growing SaaS unicorns, so let’s see if we could be a match What your days might look like We are seeking a Lead Commercial Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team and support the commercial responsibilities of our Legal Counsel, Head of Corporate & Commercial, during their tenure as Acting Head of Legal. In this role, you will manage a wide range of commercial and product initiatives, collaborating closely with both the legal team and wider business functions. You will be responsible for developing and customising contractual frameworks that align with the strategic objectives of our customers, partners, and vendors, helping to drive business success while effectively managing legal risks. We’re looking for a highly motivated, business-minded lawyer who excels in fast-paced environments and enjoys tackling new challenges. You should be a creative problem solver with a strong understanding of technology and business, able to balance legal risks with strategic goals. This fully remote role will report directly to the Acting Head of Legal and support our business across the UK and ANZ. As our Legal Counsel - Lead Commercial, you’ll: Confident and experienced in drafting. Capable of clearly and efficiently drafting for complex commercial goals. Capable of strategic thinking around how we contract, including drafting new templates for terms & conditions for new features and product offerings. Required to review material partnership or strategic agreements for risks. Advising internal stakeholders on risks, and negotiate better outcomes for the business. Summarising complex legal concepts and risks for stakeholders, and providing advice and recommendations for how to proceed. Required to review, negotiate and draft a variety of commercial agreements, including, vendor agreements, NDAs, data processing agreements, and other technology agreements. Required to lead the development, and implementation of the continuous improvement of standard form agreements, legal processes, policies and training generally. Working closely with other commercial lawyers in the team to balance workloads, to learn and develop from each other, and to ensure business goals are met efficiently. The eyes and ears for the legal team and refer out matters to other legal specialties where required, including privacy, employment, commercial and intellectual property specialists. What you will bring AU qualified solicitor (multi-jurisdictional legal qualifications or experience a big bonus). Experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department (SaaS or tech start-up preferred). Prior start-up experience is a plus. Experience with managing large cross-functional projects is a plus, especially on projects like the rollout of new products, terms & conditions, due diligence exercises or similar. Experience with global privacy regulations, including the GDPR, is a plus. Proven ability to understand technology and the interplay between legal, policy and company strategy. Ability to work autonomously in a remote business environment with a strong work ethic, to manage shifting priorities and multiple projects.
