Job Description We are seeking a project management Mechanical Engineer to join the site team at Capcoal Surface Mine on a full-time, permanent basis with Anglo American. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will be responsible for the safe and successful execution of projects for the Dragline and Shovel mobile equipment. This site-based position will see you out on the field performing regular inspections and interacting with our operational and trade workforce on a daily basis. You will also be required to maintain equipment availability and reliability through defect elimination, maintaining engineering compliance and the identification of downtime drivers and implementation of solutions. This role will see you responsible for: Collaborate with the engineering team to design, plan, and implement mechanical systems and equipment for open-cut coal mining operations. Manage capital projects and major equipment shutdowns including draglines and shovel. Perform regular inspections, audits, and maintenance assessments to ensure equipment and machinery are operating at optimal levels and comply with safety standards. Develop strategies to improve equipment efficiency, reliability, and productivity, while minimizing downtime and maintenance costs. Analyze data and provide technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues to keep mining operations running smoothly. Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components into mining processes. Conduct feasibility studies for new equipment acquisitions, upgrades, and expansion projects. Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements to propose innovative solutions. Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all site interactions and take full ownership for safety on site.
