About This Opportunity Being a key member of the Science Academic Services team within the School of the Environment, the Student and Academic Administration Officer will provide high quality customer service through the delivery of timely, accurate, and friendly advice to students, staff and the community. Key responsibilities will include: Provide accurate and timely information, process student applications and documentation, and manage tasks related to admissions, progression, exams, course enrolment, and other student-related matters. Handle tasks such as updating course profiles, managing timetables, exam paper production, grade uploads, and maintaining electronic platforms like Blackboard. Review and enhance procedures, ensure accurate information across databases and publications, and assist in implementing agreed changes to improve workflow and efficiency. Represent the University at events like Courses and Careers Days, UQ Open Day, and other outreach activities. Prepare and analyze reports, provide secretarial support for meetings and committees, and assist with implementing strategies to improve Student Administration operations. This is a full-time fixed-term position through to end of 2025 at HEW Level 5. About You A sound understanding of administrative processes relevant to student and academic administration, or the ability to rapidly gain such knowledge. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines. High level of attention to detail and accuracy in written work. Ability to exercise initiative and judgment and to work independently and autonomously. High level written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively and effectively within the team and across other organisational units. A strong orientation to the provision of a high level of customer service. An empathy with and ability to communicate with students, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds. Experience in a tertiary education institution or other large organisation in an area related to student administration would be highly regarded. Knowledge of University student computer systems and packages e.g. Microsoft office, SI-net, Business Objects, InPlace and the use of CRM systems would be desirable. The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, AHPRA registration, mandatory immunisations, first aid and/or CPR certification, blue card check, etc. You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply.
