Property and Facilities Full-time permanent position Total remuneration package will be in the range of $115,341.68- $125,598.88 Based at our picturesque St Lucia Campus About This Opportunity We are seeking a dedicated Principal Advisor to drive UQ’s Health, Safety, and Wellness Strategy within the Property and Facilities Division’s construction delivery projects. This role is key in promoting a proactive OHS culture, ensuring compliance, and maintaining safety standards within UQ’s planned and active construction projects. In this role, you will oversee and audit construction site safety and contractor compliance, ensuring adherence to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards. You will lead incident investigations, analyse safety trends, and identify external risk factors to mitigate potential hazards. Developing and implementing WHS training programs will be a key focus, along with advising stakeholders on their occupational health and safety responsibilities and best practices. Additionally, you will actively participate in divisional WHS committees, supporting a safe work environment, while coaching staff on safety leadership to build a positive safety culture. Expertise in interpreting policies, implementing procedures, and developing tailored guidelines to address complex organisational needs effectively. Strong communication skills are essential as well as the ability to negotiate and influence others to foster a positive WHS culture and promote effective safety practices. Ideally, you will also have long-term exposure to construction projects, particularly in assessing method statements prepared by third-party contractors.
