About the Role: The Clarinet Teacher should be a highly capable musician who will play an important role in teaching music and developing the woodwind program across the College. As well, the Clarinet Teacher should have excellent motivational skills evident in their teaching style and show commitment to inspiring appreciation and developing musical skills in students. In this regard, the Clarinet Teacher will be supportive of the characteristics of Jesuit Education through their manner and personal concern for the care of each individual on the campus and across the Xavier Family. The Clarinet Teacher understands their important contribution to the College’s Intent and educational mission, and with this, the care and safety of all students in accord with the highest standards of child safety and upholding an exceptional child safe culture at the College. Tenure: This casual position could be from 0.5 day up to 3 full days per week. The exact loading will be dependent on the candidates’ expertise, availability and final enrolment numbers. Start date: Term 1 2025 Selection Criteria: Experience in teaching a wide range of students and the ability to use a variety of different pedagogical approaches. Ability to build a good rapport and relationships with students, parents, and other staff. Experience in working within a school environment (preferred but not essential). Experience in group teaching as part of an instrumental curriculum program (preferred but not essential) Availability on a Thursday morning for the Year 5 Instrumental Curriculum Program. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Established conducting skills and ability to run rehearsals with large ensembles at all levels (preferred but not essential). Demonstrated understanding of how to retain and build clarinet numbers within the overall music program. Demonstrated knowledge of, adherence to and leadership for child safety, the Child Safe Standards and an exceptional culture of child safety. Well-developed people skills coupled with strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially for the benefit of staff, students and parents. VIT Registration is desirable (but not essential).
