An exciting opportunity for a hands-on expert to lead grid commissioning efforts across large-scale renewable energy projects in Australia. They are seeking an experienced Grid Commissioning Engineer to oversee the commissioning of utility-scale renewable energy assets, including wind, solar, and battery storage systems, ensuring optimal integration with the national electricity grid. This role is critical to the successful deployment of renewable energy infrastructure and offers an exciting chance to work on some of the largest and most innovative projects in Australia. Key Responsibilities: Lead the commissioning process for utility-scale renewable assets, ensuring compliance with grid connection standards and regulatory requirements. Work closely with project teams, network service providers, and system operators to facilitate seamless grid integration. Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and test protocols for high voltage electrical systems. Perform site inspections, testing, and validation of grid-tied renewable energy systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Troubleshoot and resolve issues during commissioning phases, coordinating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Ensure adherence to grid connection agreements, managing the process from initial energisation to full system commissioning. Provide technical support and expertise on electrical systems, including transformers, inverters, and other grid infrastructure. Maintain accurate documentation and reporting throughout the commissioning process, adhering to quality assurance standards. Skills & Experience Required: A minimum of 5 years of experience in grid commissioning, preferably within the renewable energy or power generation sectors. Strong technical knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems, grid connection standards, and the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM). Proven track record of delivering grid commissioning projects for utility-scale assets, including wind, solar, and battery storage. Ability to liaise with AEMO, TNSPs, and other relevant authorities on grid compliance and technical matters. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on safety and quality control. Degree-qualified in electrical engineering or a related discipline. A strong understanding of SCADA systems, control systems, and protection schemes for grid-connected assets.
