Position Information The Hospital School at Westmead is a Department of Education Public School and is the largest Hospital School in New South Wales. Co-located within both The Children's Hospital at Westmead and Westmead Hospital on the Westmead Health Campus, we provide high quality educational support to patients and their siblings in our Primary and High School classrooms. In addition, we offer bedside teaching and learning support through our Virtual Hospital Education Program (VHEP) for patients who are unable to attend one of our five classroom settings or are transitioning to back to their census enrolment school. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Special Education (Emotional Disturbance, Behaviour Disorder) Teacher to join our dynamic team of 28 staff at The Hospital School at Westmead. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching across K-6 and 7-12 classrooms, providing bedside teaching, and engaging with students virtually through the VHEP as required to meet student need. The role requires flexibility to adapt to the diverse needs of our students and contribute to their educational experience whilst unable to attend their census enrolment school. Selection Criteria Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Emotional Disturbance and/or Behaviour Disorder. Proven experience in working effectively with learning support teams and both government and non-government stakeholders. Demonstrated effectiveness at all stages of the teaching and learning cycle, including planning for learning and assessment, developing learning programs, teaching, assessing, and providing feedback on student learning while reporting to all stakeholders. Ability to create and maintain safe, inclusive, and challenging learning environments, implementing a range of support plans including Wellbeing, Learning and Support, Behaviour, Health Care and Transition plans. Compliance with NSW Health Category A worker requirements is mandatory. Experience working in a hospital school setting and familiarity with virtual teaching methods are highly desirable. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
