The Engineering team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery, commissioning, and optimisation of energy storage systems that support renewable energy integration into power grids. The Commissioning Engineering Associate – BESS will be responsible for supporting the commissioning and operational testing of large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems within the renewable energy sector. This role will involve working closely with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure the proper installation, configuration, and commissioning of BESS equipment, ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards. You will be involved in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during commissioning and will contribute to the successful handover of BESS projects to operations teams. Key Responsibilities : In this role, you will: Support the commissioning of large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across renewable energy projects in line with company and industry standards. Collaborate with project teams to review system designs, assess project requirements, and plan commissioning activities. Conduct operational testing of BESS components, systems, and subsystems to ensure performance, safety, and compliance. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues identified during the commissioning process, liaising with contractors, vendors, and internal teams. Assist in preparing and reviewing technical documentation, reports, and commissioning procedures. Ensure that all commissioning activities are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Provide technical support and training to operations teams during project handover, ensuring a smooth transition to long-term operation. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback and recommendations for process optimisation. About You The ideal candidate will have: A degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field. At least 3 years of experience in commissioning, operations, or maintenance of electrical systems, ideally within the energy storage or renewable energy sectors. Strong technical knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), electrical systems, and related technologies. Hands-on experience with commissioning activities, including system testing, troubleshooting, and optimisation. Knowledge of electrical safety regulations and industry standards relevant to commissioning and operating energy storage systems. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues quickly. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and clients. A proactive, results-driven approach to work, with a focus on continuous improvement. Qualifications : A degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline. 3 years of experience in the commissioning, maintenance, or operations of electrical or energy storage systems.
