We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Power Generation Engineer to join us in our Infrastructure Engineering – Power team in Perth or Brisbane on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Manager Projects Engineering, you will lead the design, development, and optimisation of power generation projects. The role focuses on ensuring reliable, efficient, and sustainable power solutions as well as managing projects from conceptual design through to commissioning and operational support. The primary emphasis will be on gas-fired power generation technologies, including gas turbines and gas reciprocating engines. Strong management and communication skills are essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and engineering of gas-fired and hybrid power generation systems, including feasibility studies and technical assessments Appoint and collaborate with consultants/Owners Engineers to conduct feasibility studies and project development activities up to Financial Investment Decision (FID) Manage technical aspects of contract negotiations, engineering designs, and multi-contract delivery coordination Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and client requirements in all engineering and design documentation Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of power generation systems, optimising efficiency, reliability, and sustainability Your background Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Engineering Proven experience in power generation engineering, with a focus on design, development, and project execution In-depth knowledge and recent industry experience with the design, procurement, and installation of power generation technologies, particularly gas turbines (aeroderivative and heavy industrial) as well as gas reciprocating engines Knowledge of Australian Standards and associated international reference standards Proficiency in power generation software tools, such as Thermoflow, is advantageous About the Team The Infrastructure Engineering - Power team forms part of the Infrastructure Delivery division in APA, responsible for development and delivery of growth power projects across Australia. With a strong pipeline of power projects, both grid connected and for islanded networks, the recently established Infrastructure Engineering – Power team is experiencing rapid growth.
