We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a major tunnel construction project. This role will involve overseeing the construction of cross passages, ensuring all activities meet project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. The Site Engineer will work the night shift, providing leadership and technical support to the site team and ensuring smooth coordination between different project disciplines. Key Responsibilities: Project Oversight : Supervise and manage the daily activities on-site, ensuring that cross passage construction is executed on time, in line with project schedules and specifications. Team Management : Lead and coordinate site teams, providing mentorship and ensuring that work is performed safely and efficiently. Manage subcontractors and collaborate with other engineering disciplines. Quality Control : Ensure all construction activities meet the required quality standards. Conduct regular inspections and maintain detailed quality assurance records. Technical Support : Review and interpret design drawings, specifications, and construction plans. Provide technical guidance to on-site teams. Safety Compliance : Enforce compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards. Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and ensure safety protocols are followed. Documentation & Reporting : Prepare daily and weekly progress reports, update project schedules, and maintain accurate site records. Ensure all pre-construction and construction documentation is complete. Material and Resource Management : Coordinate the procurement and delivery of materials and equipment. Monitor resource usage to ensure maximum efficiency. Survey Coordination : Work closely with survey teams to ensure accurate excavation and alignment of cross passages. Verify measurements and oversee as-built documentation. Cross-Disciplinary Coordination : Liaise with geotechnical, design, and safety teams to ensure all aspects of the cross passage work are aligned with the broader project objectives. Traffic Management : Prepare and implement Traffic Management Plans (TMP), ensuring that road occupancy permits are obtained as required. Skills & Qualifications: Educational Background : Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Tunnel Engineering, or a related field. Experience : A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tunnel construction, particularly in cross passages or similar underground works. Technical Skills : In-depth knowledge of tunnel design and construction methodologies. Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and plans. Software Proficiency : Familiar with project management and engineering software (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD). Certifications : Relevant site safety certifications (e.g., First Aid, OH&S) are required. Problem-Solving : Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly address site challenges and implement effective solutions.
