As part of its growth, they are seeking a Legal Counsel – Commercial to provide high-quality legal advice to the business and ensure compliance with relevant laws. The Legal Counsel – Commercial will play a pivotal role in delivering strategic legal advice on a wide range of commercial matters. You will provide guidance across various business functions, including procurement, sales, and marketing, ensuring that legal risks are effectively managed while enabling commercial success. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially-minded legal professional to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including supplier, distribution, and partnership agreements. Provide legal advice on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and business operations. Support procurement, sales, and marketing teams in managing contracts and legal inquiries. Advise on intellectual property matters, including trademarks, patents, and copyright. Identify legal risks and provide strategic solutions to mitigate them. Oversee dispute resolution, providing guidance on claims and conflicts. Conduct due diligence for strategic business initiatives and partnerships. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations across the business. Deliver legal training to internal stakeholders, promoting compliance and legal awareness. Monitor changes in legislation and advise on their impact on the business. Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes and contract management. Manage relationships with external legal advisors, ensuring cost efficiency and effective service. Qualifications and Experience Legal qualification with a current Australian practising certificate. Proven experience in commercial law, ideally in-house within retail, manufacturing, or FMCG sectors. Strong drafting, negotiation, and contract management experience. Solid understanding of intellectual property, competition law, and consumer protection regulations. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. A proactive approach, with the ability to balance legal considerations and commercial objectives. High attention to detail, excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
