Description DIRECTORATE: Infrastructure, Planning & Environment CLASSIFICATION: Grade A SALARY: $57,512 pa 11.5% employer contribution to superannuation REPORTING TO: Team Leader Assets EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Temporary Full Time - up to 8 years THE POSITION: To work effectively within a professional and team environment, undertaking a variety of civil engineering duties across the organisation, helping us deliver infrastructure for the city. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Under direction, assist in the following: - Survey - Investigation and design - Drafting - CAD and manual - Project Management - Prepare contract documentation and estimates - Asset Management - Traffic Management - Support the civil construction workforce as required - Keep records, drawing control and prepare time sheets - Attend to customer enquiries Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training. Qualifications KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Internal Our People External Our Community Suppliers Statutory Authorities Contractors and Developers Consultants EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Based on a 35 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines. This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 35 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor. This position requires enrolment in and completion of a bachelor with honours degree in engineering by external delivery from an Engineers Australia accredited University. The study component of the course will be primarily completed outside the standard working hours of the position. Study costs are to be managed with the payment of a Study Allowance. This position is for a temporary period of up to 8 years. The temporary employment period will be reduced in line with the amount of recognition of prior learning granted by the adopted university. This position does not require you to wear a compulsory uniform, however you must follow the dress code requirements within the AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely. This position involves working in a predominantly indoor environment and using a computer is considered a core component of the role. There may be occasional visits to other work locations. The position requires an average level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake occasional physical activities, including manual handling tasks as part of a normal working environment. A medical declaration will be required to be completed prior to commencement. This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing. This position is located at the AlburyCity Administration Building at 553 Kiewa Street Albury and occasional visits to external sites/depots as required. ALBURYCITY UNDERGRADUATE CRITERIA To be considered eligible for this position: An applicant must not have completed more than 50% of the identified qualification or a similar or a higher industry qualification completed. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Completion of Year 12 Higher School Certificate or equivalent A capacity to enrol in and complete degree studies or current enrolment in Bachelor Civil Engineering (Honours) Provisional Licence or Class C (standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain) SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: A strong interest in Civil Engineering Ability to learn new systems and processes as required. Demonstrated strong computer skills and knowledge, with understanding of Microsoft Office software, with particular reference to Outlook, Word and Excel An understanding of general office equipment and functions
