About this role As a Software Engineering Manager , you'll lead a team within a matrix structure, setting objectives and best practices to meet strategic goals. Be a part of the future of technology with us Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership and guidance to chapter team members through mentorship, conflict resolution, code reviews, and assistance with technical queries Establish close relationships with tribes, squads, and other stakeholders, using empathy and strategic thinking to guide relevant parties toward well-engineered outcomes Manage task-switching effectively and work closely with chapter members to provide optimal solutions across multiple squads Actively participate in day-to-day engineering tasks as needed, in addition to managing the team Conduct performance evaluations for chapter members Support career growth and KPI development, providing opportunities for learning and professional growth Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and influencing skills to align stakeholders at the tribe level Foster a culture of innovation and creativity to drive continuous improvement and excellence Experience: Extensive engineering experience, including tenure in leadership positions Significant experience in web application and/or full-stack development Outstanding communication skills with a proven track record of engaging regularly with VP-level executives and middle management Exceptional abilities in analytical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and critical analysis Demonstrated expertise in leading teams through the development of complex products, sophisticated solutions, and capability improvement projects Comprehensive grasp of IT risk management, core information security principles, defense-in-depth strategies, risk assessment methodologies, and risk mitigation practices Expert-level proficiency in HTML, CSS frameworks, JavaScript, TypeScript, Bootstrap, React JS, Node JS, Express JS, jQuery, and AJAX Comprehensive knowledge of Spring Framework Practical experience with AWS infrastructure or other cloud platforms (such as Azure or GCP), along with proficiency in Docker and Kotlin Benefits: 3 days in the office, 2 days remote – with flexible hours to suit Inclusive paid parental leave with up to 14 weeks for the primary care giver All Optus employees have access to resources, webinars and support via the ‘Parents at Work portal’ Own your own growth by accessing an extensive online and facilitator led learning catalogue – even earn a MBA micro-credential via OptusU (University) Connect at work through one of our employee-led volunteer groups: Elevate Women, Disability Network, Express Yourself (LGBTQIA), United Veterans and Yarn Network Vibrant campus life and a variety of facilities including restaurants, cafes, gymnasium, GP, and post office.
