Barista - For Change Cafe, Lifeblood — Kensington, Melbourne
Expired

About us For Change Co. is a fast-growing social enterprise based in Melbourne with the mission of creating pathways out of homelessness for young people. We established Australia’s first non-profit crepe van, Crêpes for Change, in 2015 and have since opened a coffee cart and four cafes across Melbourne (Middle Park, Brunswick, Bellfield and a corporate cafe at Lifeblood) - all of which host our training program participants. Along with this, 100% of profit from our work goes directly into our impact work. Our amazing team is passionate and dynamic with big dreams of changing the world; sparked by the vision of eliminating youth homelessness. Our values of passion, transparency, collaboration, inclusivity, and agility come through every day in the work that we do and the outcomes that we deliver, with an ongoing focus of creating a diverse community committed to our mission. Our Impact Our goal is to measurably and sustainably change the lives of as many at-risk young people as we can. We aim to do this through creating pathways out of the homelessness cycle for the young people that we work with. To date, we have supported over 115 young people to exit the homelessness cycle through our Pathways for Change Employment and Training Program, our Youth Advisory Program, our Skills Workshops, and through rental support. The Role This is not your average hospitality role. This is an opportunity to use your skills and experience as a barista and cafe all-rounder to support young people at-risk of or experiencing homelessness in receiving the training, support and employment they need to escape the cycle. This role will predominantly include barista and customer service work, however, the ability and willingness to be involved in food preparation and general cafe responsibilities is a must. Hospitality team members work across our cafes and you may like to express your interest in your preference of our locations, or to work across more than one of our venues. Responsibilities include: Making excellent barista coffee and a range of other beverages on offer, Providing positive customer experiences and helping to create a community atmosphere at the cafe, Supporting the Manager with duties such as cleaning, keeping the cafe stocked and ensuring great cafe operations, Training young people in our Pathways for Change Program to learn and develop hospitality and employment skills, as well as to develop confidence in themselves and their work.
