An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Assets and Infrastructure Directorate as an Environmental & Open Space Projects Engineer. About the Role You will join the City Technical Services team, developing and overseeing the design and construction of key environmental and open space projects listed in the Community Strategic Plan and Operational Plan. Reporting to the Coordinator Environmental Engineering, the role also includes: Prepare consultancy briefs, develop tender / quotation documentation Project manage consultants and/or contractors to ensure outcomes are achieved Seek out and apply for grant funding for key environmental and open space projects listed Community Strategic Plan and Operational Plan Undertake public consultation and participation in Council’s environmental and open space projects project delivery programme Develop innovative and practical solutions to complex and potentially sensitive environmental and open space project matters Assist the Coordinator Environmental Engineering to complete key environment and open space projects, including but not limited to new sports field construction (including irrigation and drainage), playground construction and stormwater improvement projects. This role will build Council's capacity to manage and improve environmental performance. What We Offer Permanent, full-time - 70 hours per fortnight Salary from $94,961.99 - $110,025.72 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation (dependant on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate) Leaseback vehicle/allowance option Civil Liability allowance 3.5% Hybrid working arrangements including a 9 day fortnight, with flexible start and finish times Health and Wellbeing paid leave Fitness Passport Program offering discounted membership for you and your family to selected facilities Employee Assistance Program Salary Packaging Options Sponsored Study Program Parental Leave and Support Employee Rewards Program Ongoing Education and Resources The successful candidate will have Qualifications, Certificates & Licences Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Project Management, or related field; landscape architecture or equivalent experience Current Class C Drivers Licence Construction Induction (White Card) Essential Extensive experience in environmental and open space project management with comprehensive knowledge of construction techniques and methods for delivering open space and environmental projects. Demonstrated experience in budget and contract administration Demonstrated experience in engaging stakeholders and the community Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondence and reports Demonstrated experience in grant, report and award writing Demonstrated working knowledge of appropriate Australian Standards, relevant NSW Legislation and NSW State Government Policies, Technical Directions and Guidelines Proven experience in Risk Management Demonstrated knowledge of Work Health and Safety Legislation Desirable Demonstrated experience in environmental and open space project management projects within a Local Government setting If you have made a positive commitment to further your career and you possess the attributes located in the complete Position Description essential criteria, then please submit your application today.
