An exciting opportunity exists for multitalented individuals to join the Joint Electronic Warfare Directorate as a Systems Engineer. As an APS 6 Systems Engineer, you will assist with the management of requirements and provide advice and expertise to other teams in the implementation of systems engineering processes across Joint Electronic Warfare projects. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team Joint EW Directorate is an integrated team of military (ADF), civilians (APS) and contractors (industry) who contribute to developing the Joint Force. Joint EW is a high-paced environment, with varied work across a spectrum of activities. Work can be demanding at times with ADF expectations, program milestones and committee representation scheduled for a range of EW outputs and projects. This Directorate is responsible for developing Joint EW capabilities in preparation for the integrated force’s application of electromagnetic spectrum warfighting effects. This is achieved through engagement with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including international allies and partners, industry, across Defence and other Government Departments. This team conducts extensive stakeholder engagement, presenting complex initiatives and planning proposals, securing agreement and participates in implementation of a range of EW initiatives. In joining Joint EW, you will support the team in solving highly complex problems and will be instrumental in developing future EW capabilities. As an APS 6 Systems Engineer, you will: Work as part of a collaborative team environment that develops capability and provides advice on Policy and Concepts in support of an Integrated Defence Force. Advise on the Needs and Requirements development and their traceability to Strategic guidance, Operational and interoperability requirements. Lead the end to end System requirements activities from project initiation to implementation. Provide specialist advice to support co-design activities and optimise the application of standards for interoperability. Assist with the development, improvement, and implementation of systems engineering processes and procedures. Oversight the systems engineering aspects of Test and Development plans. Undertake review of quality assurance, technical and test reports. Contributing to the preparation and presentation of technical submissions and briefs to senior committees. Conduct system design, analysis, and integration activities to ensure seamless operation and compliance with regulatory standards. The successful candidate will have: Effective problem solving, deductive reasoning skills and ability to develop plans and processes in support of business outcomes. The ability to identify risks in plans, decision-making and priority setting relevant to the dependencies of projects and the overall program. Skills to build and sustain positive relationships with team members and external stakeholders, and actively participate in team work. Skills to assess technical and design packages through a Systems lens, including traceability, dependencies, scoping and associated plans; provide recommendations and contribute to the implementation of actions.
